Event Information

Join us on June 19th to celebrate the intersection of African American and Irish history through North Star, an immersive live music event inspired by social reformer, abolitionist, orator, and writer Frederick Douglass, and his visit to Belfast in 1845. Curated by Kwame Daniels, this two-part event features live performances from singer Winnie Ama in The Taproom Extension from 4pm, with bookings available and walk-ins welcome. In The Occasional Room from 7pm, a specially commissioned playlist of tracks inspired by Frederick Douglass’ love of the violin will be followed by exchange and conversation, exploring where African American and Irish culture intersect, sharing experiences, and opening up opportunities for further collaboration. Please note, the booking link below is for our evening North Star event. Winnie’s performance is open to bookings and walk-ins, in The Taproom Extension.
